Ups and Downs

I was watching Max as he ate and swam around in the food bin when I noticed something extremely interesting. I put a bit too much water into the bin this time around, so Max has to float or swim because he can't touch the bottom and have his little head above the surface at the same time. I am seeing he likes this better because he gets a good swim in during meal times.

That isn't the interesting part, though. What interested me was this:

Max swam up to the surface and as soon as his little nostrils broke the surface, he filled up his mouth/neck with air and proceeded to float by becoming some sort of adorable turtle buoy. A few moments later, he wanted to explore the bottom and some pieces of his food that had sunk there. So what does he do? He plunges his head under water and I see air bubbles come out of his little body and watch him sink down to the bottom where exploring and eating commenced.

What a sneaky little guy! Each day is a new adventure with my little Max.

Until Next Time, Megan.

P.S. Somehow he managed to poo on his shell. It wasn't like a smeared poo, it was a solid little turtle poo right in the middle of his shell and I just cannot figure out how he did it!
